Workshop “Electronic Correlations, Emergent Phenomena, and Quantum Materials”

The Institute SPIN-CNR (Italy) together with the Department of Physics of the University of Salerno (Italy), the Flatiron, a division of the Simons Foundation (NY, USA), the University of Würzburg (Germany), and the Technische Universität Wien (Austria), is organizing the Workshop “Electronic Correlations, Emergent Phenomena, and Quantum Materials” -Lectiones Amalfitanae- which will be held in Amalfi from April 10 (Sun) to April 13 (Wed), 2022.

Si inaugura la mostra interattiva "Colori e Immagini della Scienza"

Da venerdì 1 a giovedì 21 aprile 2022, presso la Biblioteca Universitaria di Genova, sarà possibile visitare la mostra interattiva "Colori e Immagini della Scienza", che vedrà esposte le 88 opere realizzate dagli studenti delle scuole superiori partecipanti alla sezione di Genova del progetto "Art & Science across Italy".

SPIN involved in the final session of the Intellectual Property Award 2021 at Expo Dubai 2020

The technology “Low-power magnetometer for improved sensors integration in future vehicles”, developed by CNR-SPIN and CNR-IFN in the framework of the EU FET-Open OXiNEMS project, was presented in the macro area “Future Mobility” for the final session of the “Intellectual Property Award 2021” held at Expo Dubai 2020, the competition promoted by the Directorate General for the protection of industrial property - Italian Patent and Trademark Office of the Ministry of Economic Development (Mise) - in collaboration with Netval, aimed at promoting and enhancing the innovation and economic growth of Italy.

“2D-Materials LEGO” has a new component: Evidence for a single-layer van der Waals multiferroic

An international collaboration among the experimental groups led by Prof. Riccardo Comin and Prof. Nuh Gedik at Massachussets Institute of Technology and the theoretical groups led by Dr. Silvia Picozzi at CNR-SPIN and by Prof. Antia Botana at Arizona State University resulted in the discovery of multiferroicity persisting down to the monolayer limit.

Giacomo Ghiringhelli wins the 2022 Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize

Giacomo Ghringhelli, Professor of Physics at Politecnico di Milano and research associate of SPIN, is one the winners of the 2022 Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize for his “pioneering resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) experiments on cuprate superconductors”.
