109° Congress of the Italian Physical Society – SALERNO EDITION

The 109° Congress of the Italian Physical Society, this year, has been organized by the Physics Department of the University of Salerno (Prof. Salvatore De Pasquale, president of the Organizing Committee) and CNR-SPIN Salerno (Dr. Nadia Martucciello, vice-president). The event will take place at the Fisciano Campus from 11th to 15th September 2023. The Congress, which will gather about 800 Italian physicists for the whole week, will represent the meeting point of various cultural and scientific facets of contemporary physics. The Congress, each day, has various plenary general sessions and seven parallel ones, to guarantee an ample scenery of the Italian research in physics and a common background for the attending researchers.

The current edition of the Congress takes advantage of a strong contribution of the CNR-SPIN Unit of Salerno component: Nadia Martucciello, CNR-SPIN Researcher, is the vice-president and the scientific secretary of the Organizing Committee, while, among the others, Mario Cuoco, Filippo Giubileo, and Salvatore Abate are members of the organizing committee together with colleagues from Salerno physics department.

The opening ceremony of the Salerno edition of the Congress, on Sept 11th, will guest Prof. Maria Chiara Carrozza, President of CNR, who will give a speech about the “Future of CNR” to celebrate the 100 years of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. She will also participate in a Round Table about “Quantum Technologies” that will be held the same day.

During the opening ceremony, several prestigious awards will be granted to praiseworthy researchers in Physics.

Among the awarded physicists there is Dr. Ofelia Durante, a CNR-SPIN associate, who will be assigned the “Ida Ortalli" Award for young researchers.

For the whole week of the Congress, the exhibition “Dire l'indicibile: l'entanglement quantistico" will be exposed in the area of plenary sessions of the Congress (Hall of F3 building – P1-P2). This exhibition set up, developed by CNR SPIN, INO, ISASI and University Federico II, Naples is part of the project “Italian Quantum Weeks” (Carla Cirillo and Paola Gentile are the CNR-SPIN local representatives).
