The workshop “DSTDM: Device science of 2D organic and inorganic materials: from fundamentals to applications” is a joint initiative of the Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Science of Okayama University (Japan) and of the Physics Department of the University of Naples (Italy).

The interaction of materials with electromagnetic fields gives rise to excited-electron populations that evolve and decay over ultrafast (femtosecond to picosecond) time scales. These dynamic processes and the energy redistribution of the photoexcited charge carriers following the photoexcitation lie at the very heart of some of the most interesting light-induced physical phenomena, such as photocatalysis, photosynthesis, solar energy conversion and many more.

The first-principles school on electronic-structure calculations and materials modeling  based on Quantum ESPRESSO (QE) software has successfully ended. The event  was, for the first-time, entirely held on-line.

The  school  aimed to  introduce students and young researchers to materials and molecular modelling with Quantum ESPRESSO (QE), covering basic concepts, recent advances and developments, with emphasis on density-functional-theory (DFT) based methods and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

On 23 April, the kick-off meeting of the project renewal for other 3 years for assessing Tl (1223) superconducting coating feasibility took place virtually on the CERN platform Indico.

Si è positivamente concluso l’iter di valutazione del Progetto PON “Sviluppo di sistemi e tecnologie quantistiche per la sicurezza informatica in reti di comunicazione” (QUANCOM) all’interno del programma 12 Aree di specializzazione individuate dal PNR 2015-2020 (Responsabile Scientifico Nazionale Prof. G. P. Pepe).

From March 2021, CNR-SPIN and CNR-NANO Institutes will be starting the collaborative research and innovation project SuperGate “Gate Tuneable Superconducting Quantum Electronics”, which has been funded by the European Commission under the HORIZON-2020 FETOPEN program.
