A delegation from the Institute of Superconducting and New Materials and Devices (SPIN) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) visited several scientific Institutions and Universities in Shanghai

During the week 17-24 February 2024, Dr. Fabio Miletto Granozio (FMG), Director of the CNR-SPIN, and Dr. Alessandro Stroppa (AS), Deputy Director of SPIN Unit of L’Aquila, were invited by Prof. Wei Ren, Shanghai University (SHU), to visit several scientific institutions in Shanghai, in order to share common interests for potential collaborations.

Lab tour at MGI -SHU

It was a very intense week, with discussions, laboratory tours, and scientific meetings.  In the first day, the CNR-SPIN researchers visited the Physics Department, College of Sciences, the International Center for Quantum Molecular Structures, the new Materials Genome Institute (MGI), and the School of Microelectronics. In the following days, visits and lab tours were planned at Shanghai Creative Superconductor Company, Jiaotong University, Dianji University, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics (SIC)- Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), Fudan University.

Warm welcome at SCSC

FMG presented the CNR-SPIN activities at the School of Microelectronics of SHU, at Shanghai Creative Superconductor SCSC and at SIC-CAS. AS also gave a seminar to present his research on chirality effects in condensed matter physics at SIC-CAS. On Friday, AS met students from SHU for discussions about projects in collaborations with SHU.At SCSC, FMG and AS met the CEO and founder, C. Cai, and visited the production lines for REBCO tapes, based on IBAD-assisted deposition of MgO and Metalorganic Deposition of REBCO.

Director Su Liangbi and Director Miletto Granozio Fabio exchanged views on their research directions and cooperation
At SIC-CAS, Director Su Liangbi met the two Italian visitors and had a pleasant exchange with Director Fabio Miletto Granozio. During the conversation, Director Su introduced the development history and key research directions of CAS institute, expressed his affirmation of the fruitful cooperation between CAS institute and the Italian CNR, and introduced the acousto-optical crystal TeO2 and NaI crystals at the Italian CNR Core Dark matter detection in the Institute of Physics and its application in large scientific devices.

Director FMG introduced the research activity of CNR in Italy and in particular of the SPIN Institute. Director Su Liangbi and Director FMG both look forward to establishing good cooperation in the future under the framework of CAS-CNR and even under the framework of the cooperation projects of the Foundation Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology. At Fudan university FMG and AS visited the labs of oxide film growth led by Hangwen Guo and the labs of scanning probe microscopy led by Chunlei Gao.

Dr. Miletto Granozio Fabio and Dr. Alessandro Stroppa visited the showroom of SIC-CAS.
