Giacomo Ghiringhelli wins the 2022 Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize

Giacomo Ghringhelli, Professor of Physics at Politecnico di Milano and research associate of SPIN, is one the winners of the 2022 Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize for his “pioneering resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) experiments on cuprate superconductors”.

The highly prestigious Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize, named after the discoverer of superconductivity, is awarded in recognition of special merits of scientists active in the field of low-temperature science and technology.

Ghiringhelli shared the Kamerlingh-Onnes Prize with Prof. Bernhard Keimer (Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research, Stuttgart, Germany), and Prof. Pengcheng Dai  (Rice University, Houston, USA). The three scientists have been awarded for their outstanding experimental work on spin and charge correlations in high temperature superconductors using x-ray and neutron scattering.

Congratulations to Giacomo from all the SPIN community!
