- January 1991, Master (“Laurea”) Degree in Physics by the “University Federico II” of Naples with score 110/110 cum laude.

Research Interests

  • Growth of epitaxial heterostructures of transition metal oxides
  • Properties of 2D electron gases at oxide interfaces
  • Mechanisms of pulsed laser deposition
  • Physics of correlated electron systems.
  • Thin film characterization at large scale facilities
  • Non conventional spin textures in transition metal oxides
  • Applications of transition metal oxides in nanoelectronics, spintronics, sensing and energy conversion.

Major roles in research management

   - 1.   Coordinator of the COST Action “TO-BE”, Towards Oxide-Based Electronic (17 participating EU countries, 31 participating Institutions). Four years project approved in Nov. 2013 and strating in year 2014.

   - 2.   Leader of the Naples Unit of CNR-SPIN as delegate of the CNR-SPIN Director prof. Ruggero Vaglio from 1st January 2010 to 30 June 2011. The Naples Unit is composed of about 20 units of CNR scientific and amministrative personnel and about 25 units of scientific personnel from the Physics Department of the University Federico II associated to CNR-SPIN

   - 3.     Director of INFM-Coherentia in year 2009. Coherentia included the same units of personnel of the Naples Unit of CNR-SPIN plus some sub-inits in Rome and Salerno. Coherentia was stopped within a national riarrangement of Italian Research System that merged the former INFM Institute into CNR

   - 4.   Leader of the Research Activity (or “Commessa”) “Deposition and diagnostics of thin films of innovative materials” from year 2002 to 2009, first under Coherentia INFM and then under CNR SPIN .

   - 5.   Board member of the “Centro di Competenza Nuove Tecnologie” of Regione Campania from 2005 to 2006, a Consortium with 25M€ of budget from Regione Campania.

   - 6.   Holder from 2003 to 2006 of a 2M€ grant as Responsible for the participation of CNR-INFM to the “Centro di Competenza Nuove Tecnologie” of Regione Campania

Editor of books and journal issues

  -   1.   MRS Bullettin, Dec 2013, Special issue on Functional Oxide Interfaces, Guest Editor

  -   2. MRS Symposium Proceedings, Volume “Advances in Spectroscopy and Imaging of Surfaces and Nanostructures”, Editor
