Miscellaneous Information

Dr. Alessandro Ciattoni is a CNR researcher, Italy, and he carries out research in the fields of nonlinear optics, nanophotonics, plasmonics and metamaterials. He received his Laurea degree and Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of L’Aquila in 1997 and 2001, respectively. In the two year period 2001-2003 he joined the Department of Physics of University “Roma Tre,” as a temporary Research Scientist. His research background and expertise span from nonlinear optics to nanophotonics and plasmonics encompassing two-dimensional materialsmetamaterials and semiconductor physics. The focus of his recent scientific work is the identification and analysis of ultra-fast physical mechanisms enabling the manipulation of light down to the deep sub-wavelength scale. In addition to the main interest in the theoretical understanding, mathematical modeling and numerical analysis of fundamental radiation-matter interaction mechanisms, his research effort is also aimed at devising feasible miniaturized photonic devices providing active functionalities at micro- and nano-scales.
