Education: Degree in chemistry in 1996; Ph.D. in Materials Engineering in 2005.
Current position: Researcher at CNR-SPIN Institute since 2020.
Previous positions: Research scientist at Institute for Archaeological and Monumental Heritage (IBAM-CNR) of Italian National Research Council (where she has worked from 1998); from 2011 to 2019, scientific coordinator of the “Laboratory of Archaeometry, Diagnostics and Conservation: Chemical Analyses” at IBAM-CNR Lecce.
Research interests: multifunctional coatings; nanomaterials; inorganic oxides; thermal, thermogravimetric and spectroscopic FT-IR analyses for characterization of materials and their decay; durability of polymers; eco-efficient materials; stone conservation; archaeometry.
Research project participation: She has been involved in many research projects; among others:
● IT@CHA - Italian Technologies for Advanced application in Cultural Heritage Assets (PON 2007-2013); ● LIEMP - Laboratory for Indoor Energy efficiency and Monumental Preservation (network of public research laboratories, ERDF 2007-2013); ● PRIN 2010-2011 - History and global archaeology of rural landscapes in Italy between Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages. Integrated systems of sources, methods and technologies for a sustainable development.
Teaching activities: ● Teaching fellow (2015-2019) in Science and Technology of Polymers and Science of non-metallic materials, within the master’s degree program in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology (University of Salento). ● Co-supervisor in thesis for Ph.D. in Material, Structure and Nanotechnology engineering – 32nd Cycle (University of Salento), master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Materials Engineering, Sciences for Conservation and Restoration, Technologies for Cultural Heritage (University of Salento).
Editorial and professional activities: ● Since 2013, in the Register of Experts by the Italian Ministry for University and Research. ● Editorial Board member of “Sustainability”; ● Reviewer Board member of “Coatings”; ● Guest Editor for the Special Issues on “Toward Sustainable Multifunctional Coatings” and “Sustainable Strategies and Approaches in Conservation of the Built Heritage” of “Sustainability”, “Anti-graffiti coatings” in “Coatings”. ● Referee for more than 20 international scientific journals.
