SPIN Director, Fabio Miletto Granozio, visiting the CERN labs

On November 15th, CNR-SPIN Director, Fabio Miletto Granozio, visited the CERN labs in Geneva. During his visit, Fabio had the opportunity to discuss about the ongoing collaborations between SPIN and CERN groups and to identify new possible research themes which could be synergistically developed in the next future.

The topics include:

  • the development of superconducting wires for high-field magnets, in view of a future LHC upgrade (HL-LHC: high luminosity large hadron collider);
  • exploring the potential of low-surface-impedence High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS) coatings for minimizing the impact on the beam of the image currents generated in the tube walls, in view of the future circular collider (FCC).

We remind that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), between CNR and CERN, for the Future Circular Collider was signed at the beginning of this year.
