| Antonio Barone (AB) prematurely passed away on Dec 4th 2011 at the age of 72, after a one-year battle with cancer. He left behind his wife Sveva and his two sons, Alberto and Livio. Antonio was currently Professor Emeritus at the University of Napoli Federico II, where he had been teaching for about 40 years.The initial research activity of AB was in the field of nuclear physics. In this context, almost 45 years ago, the Ge “Lithium drift” semiconductor detectors represented a novelty, due to the high energy resolution allowed by those devices. Sandro was born on 9 July 1955 in Bonnanaro (Sassari), and graduated in Physics at the University of Cagliari, when he was only 23-years old. | Vincenzo (Enzo) Palmieri, passed away in Padua on March 16th 2018 at the age of 56, after a short, brave, battle against a cruel sickness. He left behind his two beloved daughters, Eulalia and Ludmilla, his mate Emanuela and his family of origin in Naples to whom he was still strongly linked.
Enzo was at the peak of his brilliant career. After graduating cum laude in Physics at the University of Naples Federico II and training as a technical student at CERN, he moved to INFN National Laboratories in Legnaro (Pd), were he developed his outstanding 30 years career becoming Research Director, at the head of a large research group (LSC group) on thin film technologies. 2018 has taken Roberta Cimberle away from us, a colleague and, more than that, a dear friend.
Roberta is survived by her son Leone, a young mathematician and researcher at the University of Pisa, and by her sisters, Lisa and Caterina. Roberta was borne in 1946 in Ancona, where she graduated from high school, and arrived in 1966 in Genoa, to study physics at the University.
